Education Minister opens upgraded Ghanasidhar-Khadrala road
Education Minister Rohit Thakur today said the state government has taken several important decisions in the interest of the apple growers.
Thakur, who was on a visit to Gram Panchayat Kuthadi in Nawar area of the Jubbal Kotkhai Assembly segment, today inaugurated the upgraded Ghanasidhar-Khadrala road at a cost of Rs 9.50 crore. Highlighting the importance of the Ghanassidhar-Khadrala road, he said this road was built in 1952 and in 1954, then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru also visited the area.
“Due to the border with Tibet, this road has its own strategic importance and besides Kotkhai Nawar, the people of Rohru and Rampur will also benefit from this road,” he said. Apart from this, in the past 18 months, 93 roads have been approved in the Assembly constituency and by the end of this year, their number will probably reach 100, he added.
“Jubbal Navar Kotkhai is an apple-rich area and apple horticulture is an important part of the state’s economy. The state government took a historic decision to implement the universal carton in view of the future of the apple industry,” he said. Along with this, under the market intervention scheme (MIS), the liabilities of the horticulturists worth Rs 153 crore have also been paid in lump sum, he added.
He said presently development works worth Rs 18 crore are in progress in the entire Tikkar subdivision and no shortage would be there for various schemes. He appealed to the youth that with changing times it is necessary that we move ahead with the rest of the world but it is also necessary that we remain connected to our culture and traditions.
While talking about the Education Department, he said that at present thousands of teacher posts are being filled through direct recruitment and other means so that there is no hindrance in the studies of the students of the state.
Apart from this, he also inaugurated the Panchayat Bhawan constructed at a cost of 15 lakh and the newly constructed Jan Suvidha Kendra at a cost of Rs 5 lakh in Gram Panchayat Kuthadi. He also laid the foundation stone of the Primary Health Centre building to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.84 crore.
