A district-level youth festival will be organised at Government Post Graduate College, Chamba Campus, on December 6, said Vivek Kumar, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Chamba.

The event is being organised under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chamba, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The festival will feature a variety of competitions, including writing, painting, photography, declamation and folk dance. In addition, there will be science fairs for individual and group participants.

Winners of the competitions will be awarded cash prizes. In the declamation contest, the first, second and third place winners will receive Rs 5,000, Rs 2,500, and Rs 1,500, respectively. In the folk-dance competition, the first prize will be Rs 7,000, second prize Rs 5,000, and third prize Rs 3,000.

For writing, painting and photography competitions, the cash prizes are set at Rs 2,500, Rs 1,500, and Rs 1,000 for the first, second, and third places. In the science fair, individual participants will receive Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000, and Rs 1,500 for the top three places, while group participants will be awarded Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 3,000 for the first, second and third positions, respectively.

Selected participants at the district level will qualify for the state-level competition and state-level winners will proceed to the national level.

Interested youth aged between 15 and 29 as of December 30, 2024, are encouraged to register before December 3. Registration forms are available at the NYK’s Chamba office or can be obtained and submitted via email, said Kumar.
