Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal on Saturday reviewed the progress of the ongoing disaster mitigation projects, funded under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund, in the district. The projects aim to provide permanent solutions to disaster-affected areas in the district.

During the meeting, DC Repaswal reviewed the progress of various projects and directed officials from departments concerned to expedite the work. He also instructed them to share geo-tagged photos of the ongoing projects to ensure transparency and monitoring.

Specifically addressing landslide prevention efforts, the DC instructed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to immediately begin the work at Pakkatala Mohalla in Chamba town and the Kali Ghar area, near the Chowari subdivision headquarters.

While reviewing projects in the Churah subdivision, officials informed the DC that most of the work at upper and lower Nala in Bairagarh has been completed.Additionally, the works on the Tissa-Jhajjakothi link road, especially at Jhukyani Ghar, are expected to complete soon.

Regarding the protection measures near Mehla, under the national highway 154-A, department representatives informed the DC that a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared and submitted for approval.

The DC also conducted a detailed review of flood protection and landslide prevention work in areas such as Durgethi Nala, Motla village, Jatrun, Trimath, Saloh, Banikhet Nala and Kamotha village in the Kalhel region, as well as the Dramnala link road. He issued necessary instructions to the officials of the departments concerned for timely completion of these projects.

In the meeting, an MoU was signed between the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and officials from the PWD and Jal Shakti Department. The MoU ensures timely implementation of risk mitigation measures as recommended by the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA).

On behalf of the DDMA, Additional District Magistrate Amit Mehra signed the MoU, while Superintendent Engineer Diwakar Singh Pathania signed for the PWD and Superintendent Engineer Rajesh Mogra for the Jal Shakti Department.
