Deputy Speaker, admn chalk out plan for Shri Renuka Ji fair
The Deputy Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Vinay Kumar, chaired a meeting of the Shri Renuka Ji Development Board today to ensure the successful organisation of the five-day International Shri Renuka Ji Fair, set to be held from November 11 to 15 in Sirmaur district.
During the meeting, Vinay Kumar highlighted the significance of the fair, stating that the Shri Renuka Ji Fair was not just important for Himachal Pradesh, but also holds deep religious significance for neighbouring states. He emphasised that the responsibility of making this year’s event successful lies with both the government and non-government members of the fair committee. As in previous years, he expressed confidence that the fair would be well-organised and a success.
A special focus was placed on maintaining cleanliness throughout the fair to preserve the sanctity of the area and ensure that visitors face no inconvenience. The Deputy Speaker instructed the authorities to prioritise environmental conservation, with an emphasis on keeping the event plastic-free. Steps will be taken to limit the use of plastic and promote eco-friendly practices during the fair.
Additionally, Vinay Kumar directed the installation of streetlights to facilitate local residents and pedestrians attending the event. Further instructions were given to various departments to streamline transportation, traffic management, parking, healthcare services, security and, law and order during the event. He also emphasised the importance of arranging divers and ensuring an uninterrupted water supply throughout the fair.
The Deputy Speaker also announced the construction of a dedicated bathing ghat for women at the fair. Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner, Sumit Khimta, assured the Deputy Speaker that the district administration would make every effort to ensure the smooth and successful execution of the International Shri Renuka Ji Fair. He directed the officials present to make proper arrangements in their respective areas.
The meeting was conducted by Nahan Sub-Divisional Magistrate Saleem Azam, who is also the Secretary of the fair committee, and was attended by both government and non-government members of the fair committee.
The International Shri Renuka Ji Fair holds great religious and cultural importance. Every year, thousands of devotees and tourists from across the region attend the event, which honours Goddess Renuka. The fair features a variety of religious rituals, cultural programmes and stalls, drawing significant attention from visitors. The upcoming fair promises to be a grand and eco-friendly celebration of faith and culture.
