Dengue cases surge in Sirmaur, 93 cases reported from Nahan

Sirmaur district is witnessing a surge in dengue cases, prompting the Health Department to be on high alert. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Sirmaur, Dr Ajay Pathak, said a total of 137 dengue cases had been recorded in Sirmaur district so far. Of these, 12 cases were reported on Saturday alone, indicating the ongoing surge in the mosquito-borne disease.

Amarpur Mohalla in Nahan has emerged as a significant hotspot, with numerous cases originating from this densely populated area. A total of 93 dengue cases have been reported so far from Amarpur Mohalla of Nahan. Additionally, sporadic cases have been reported from various parts of the district, underscoring the widespread nature of the outbreak.

The Health Department, under the guidance of Dr Pathak, is actively monitoring the situation. A concerted effort involving specialist doctors, health educators, municipal council employees, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers is underway to curb the spread of dengue. These teams are working tirelessly on preventive measures, including community education, mosquito control initiatives, and patient care.

“Thanks to the collaborative efforts, we are beginning to see a decline in the daily reported cases,” said Dr Pathak. With the monsoon season contributing to the breeding of mosquitoes, the Health Department has initiated a door-to-door screening campaign educating residents about preventive measures such as not allowing water to stagnate, wearing full-sleeve clothing, and other precautions to avoid dengue.

Both government and private hospitals are seeing an influx of patients seeking treatment for dengue.

A special campaign will be launched on Sunday with a team of specialist doctors along with Anganwadi workers visiting the Amarpur locality. The team will conduct a detailed investigation to find out the real reason behind the sudden increase in dengue cases.Dr Monisha Agrawal, the Block Medical Officer of Dhageda, emphasised that ASHA workers are conducting thorough screenings during their home visits. In a concerted effort, the Health block of Dhageda, led by Health Educator and ASHA workers, is actively raising awareness among the public. They are visiting various neighborhoods, including the dengue hotspot of Amarpur Mohalla in Nahan, to educate people about dengue prevention.
