Kamlesh Thakur, the newly elected MLA from Dehra constituency, has fulfilled some of the promises made during the recently held bypoll. The Cabinet has already approved the opening of a 50-bedded critical care unit in the Civil Hospital at Dehra which has been a long-pending demand of this region.

A final seal on the post of Superintending Engineer of HPSEB, PWD and Jal Shakti coupled with Block Medical Officer BMO at Dehra is seen as the fulfillment of promises made during the elections. Dehra constituency which had complained of neglected is witnessing a lot of activities which people feel would make up for the earlier looses.

Dehra is already a police district, with realigned and upgraded police thanas and chowkis. All that was lying neglected for decades is getting fresh lease of life. Department of Public Works PWD and Jalshakti JD are already at work making DPRs for internal roads and regular water supply. There are scores of villages seeking proper road connectivity. These villages lie all along the Pong Lake and are mostly inhabited by people dislocated in a haste in the early seventies.

In a short span of just two months, the projects pending for the last two decades are getting implemented. The work at Nand Nala, which is the life line for a few villages has picked up. Kamlesh Thakur, it is learnt has personally met the PWD Minster, who assured her that the bridge would be ready for inauguration by next year. The Electricity Department is also upgrading the age-old equipment which was resulting in low voltage or frequent tripping.

“All these newly announced projects and new offices being opened coupled with the coming up of CUHP campus is sure to bring a smile on the faces of all the residents of Dehra town and adjoining villages once again,” said Kiran Guleri, a social activist, who has been a Zila Parishad and Block Samiti Member form the area.
