Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today directed the deputy commissioners (DCs)and the SPs of Una, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts to expedite the implementation of the state government’s flagship schemes so that people could avail of their benefits. He told them to dedicate two days in a week to addressing public grievances in their offices rather than proceeding on tour. “The government will issue standard operating procedures regarding this soon. The deputy commissioners should prioritise resolving public grievances," he added.

Sukhu presided over the opening session of the conference of the deputy commissioners and the SPs here. He directed the officers to follow the state government’s directives and warned them that negligence on this front would be viewed seriously.

Sukhu directed the deputy commissioners and the SPs to submit suggestions for improving governance and ensuring better services to people on their doorsteps.

Sukhu also instructed the deputy commissioners to personally oversee the resolution of pending revenue cases in their districts and hold regular meetings with officials concerned to ensure timely disposal of such cases. He praised the Bilaspur administration for initiating water sports activities in the Gobind Sagar Lake and instructed the Una district administration to implement a similar model to create additional employment and self-employment opportunities for the local youth.

Sukhu said that his government was committed to modernising and equipping the police force with advanced technology. He emphasised the government’s ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace. He added that the fight against the drug mafia would be intensified to protect the younger generation from falling prey to drug abuse
