Deadline for filing police post applications extended to November 12
The state government has extended the deadline for the submission of applications for recruitment in the Police Department to November 12.
A spokesperson for the government said on Friday that on the directions of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the application deadline for recruitment in the Police Department had been extended from October 31 to November 12. He added that the extension was intended to allow more time to the youth in the state to apply for the posts and the decision would benefit thousands of prospective candidates.
He said that the Chief Minister was prioritising providing employment opportunities to the youth and during his 20-month tenure the government had created over 31,000 jobs. As part of these efforts, the HPPSC had invited applications for 1,088 posts of constable.
The spokesperson said that to promote gender equality in the state, the government had reserved 30 per cent posts for women in the Police Department. Of the 1,088 posts, 380 had been specifically reserved for women constables while the remaining 708 positions were open for male candidates, he added.
He said that the government had given a one-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for the recruitment of constables. He added that with this revised age limit, the general category applicants aged 18 to 26 years, SC/ST, OBC, Gorkha and distinguished sportspersons aged 18 to 28 years and Home Guards aged 20 to 29 years would be eligible to apply for these posts.
The spokesperson said that these initiatives reflected the commitment of the government to provide employment opportunities inclusively.
