DC chairs meeting on road safety
A meeting of the Road Safety Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sumit Khimta at his office. The meeting focused on reviewing road safety activities and implementing measures to ensure safer transportation in the district.
DC Khimta directed the Forest Department to remove fallen trees and their roots along national highways and other roads to prevent potential accidents. Highlighting the importance of road safety awareness, he instructed the District Medical Officer and Regional Transport Officer to organise weekly road safety awareness camps in institutions such as medical colleges, engineering colleges, ITIs, senior secondary schools, and DIET centres.
He emphasised extending these initiatives to educational institutions in Dadahu and Paonta Sahib to maximise the youth’s participation and educate them on traffic rules and road safety measures.
