Dalai Lama returns from US after knee replacement surgery

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama today returned from the USA this morning to a warm welcome from Tibetans, devotees and well-wishers. He went the USA for knee treatment. Upon his arrival at Kangra airport, the Dalai Lama was received by Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Security Kalon (minister) Dolma Gyari, Settlement Officer Kunchok Migmar and representatives from the local civil society groups and local Indian community. Hundreds thronged the streets leading up to the Tsuglagkhang temple to greet the Dalai Lama.
At the Tsuglagkhang’s entrance, another group of Tibetan leadership consisting of Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Justice Commissioner Tenzin Lungtok, Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra, DIIR Kalon Norzin Dolma, standing committee members of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Secretaries of the CTA departments and offices and the Tibetan Settlement Officers, who are participating in the ongoing capacity building training, held a reception his arrival.
The Dalai Lama left Dharamsala on June 21 for the USA, where he underwent a successful knee replacement and spent two months recovering. On August 23, he attended a long-life prayer offering in North America, after which he travelled to Zurich, Switzerland, on August 26 to participate in another Long-Life Prayer ceremony.
Next month the Dalai Lama has busy schedule at Dharamsala where he would participate in long-life prayers being offered to him by Tibetans and teaching for Buddhists from South East Asian countries.
The Dalai Lama will participate in a long-life offering ceremony at the request of the Monpa Community of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Dalai Lama will give two days of teachings (topic to be decided) at the request of a group of Southeast Asians in the mornings at the Main Tibetan Temple on September 12 and 13.
