Court seeks report on basic facilities in 2 Mandi villages
The HP High Court today directed the Deputy Commissioner, Mandi, to visit Sarteyoela and Balogh villages in Karsog tehsil of Mandi district within one week and submit a detailed report with regard to lack of basic amenities in these villages/gram panchayats by way of a supplementary affidavit before December 20.
Justice Sandeep Sharma passed this order on a petition filed by the residents of Sarteyoela village in Mandi alleging therein that on account of lack of basic amenities in the gram panchayat and connecting villages, residents of the aforesaid panchayat are compelled to live a hard life.
It was further alleged that these areas not only suffer from lack of proper roads, streets paths, bridges, electricity (3-phase), basic health structure, schools and veterinary hospital but the children residing in the area are compelled to walk and use span to cross Sutlej river. As a result, their lives are always in danger.
After hearing the contentions of the petitioners, Justice Sandeep Sharma observed that “having regard to the averments contained in the petition, this court, before calling for replies from the respondents, deems it fit to summon report from respondent Deputy Commissioner Mandi, with regard to correctness of allegations contained in the writ petition.
