Coronavirus: Himachal reports 43 new cases; tally rises to 2,219

Himachal Pradesh on Monday reported 43 more cases of coronavirus, taking the state’s case tally to 2,219.
Twelve more people have tested positive for coronavirus infection in Kangra taking the total number of cases in the district to 422.
Those who tested positive today include four Army personnel, 30-year-old Army personnel with travel history from Leh, resident of Paprola, 21-year-old Army personnel resident of village Barikhas near Palampur with travel history from Bengaluru, 21-year-old Army personnel resident of village Tharer Baijnath having travel history from Leh and 40-year-old Army personnel resident of Holta Cantonement with travel history from Leh
Two paramilitary personnel including, 56-year-old male resident of village Kukena in Baijnath with travel history from Srinagar and 45-year-old paramilitary personnel resident of village Amlela in Jawali area with travel history from Jalpaiguri in West Bengal.
Among six others who test positive today, four were primary contacts of corona positive patients, including 45-year-old female and her 26-year-old daughter-in-law both primary contacts of corona positive Army personnel residents of village Samkehhar in Jawali, 19-year-old female resident of village Chabuan in Jawali area who is primary contact of positive case and 25-year-old female resident of village Chalwara in Jawali area primary contact of positive case.
The remaining two patients who tested positive today are 22-year-old male resident of village Tahlian in Jawali area with travel history from Mathura, and 57-year-old female resident of village Barwara in Dehra area with travel history from Radha Swami Satsang Beas.
Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh reported 31 more cases of coronavirus, taking the total number of cases in the district to 273.
DC, Sirmaur, Dr RK Pruthi, said the 31 cases comprise 16 women and 15 men and all of them hail from Govindgarh Mohalla in Nahan. They have been shifted to COVID care centres.
As many as 191 cases have emerged from this area, where a wedding held on July 4-5 led to an alarming hike in COVID cases. A sampling of the entire population in this area was completed on Sunday. As many as 27 teams of health workers were engaged in active case finding (ACF) in all 13 wards of Nahan town and another six at Dadahu town. They visited each house to ascertain whether the residents have come in contact with the infected people.
A team comprising 3-to-4 accredited social health activists and Anganwadi workers, under the supervision of senior officials, were engaged for ACF in both towns.
A sampling booth has been set up at Ranital at Nahan for sampling people from other areas of the town. Nine people, who had tested positive from this area, have recovered, including a pregnant woman who was the first to contract the infection.
