Congress’s rule marred by corruption: Himachal BJP chief Rajeev Bindal
Shimla, July 8
State BJP president Rajeev Bindal today said that people would reject the misuse of power by the Congress in the Assembly byelections. The BJP’s strength in the Vidhan Sabha was bound to go up as it would win all three byelections, he claimed while campaigning in the Dehra Assembly segment.
Bindal, while addressing mediapersons, said that people had realised that the BJP had worked tirelessly for the development of the state. “The Congress, rather than seeking votes on a development agenda, is trying to intimidate voters to get their support. The party will not succeed in its endeavour,” he alleged.
He said that the 18-month rule of the Congress was marred by corruption and poor governance. He alleged that the Congress government had brought all development works to a standstill in the state.
“A government, which has pushed Himachal backwards by halting all development works, is now giving false assurances and promises of development to the electorate of the three Assembly segments,” he added.
Bindal said that the Congress had given patronage and shelter to the mafias of illegal mining, liquor, land, transfer and drugs. “The Chief Minister must answer as to why he and his entire Cabinet is silent on the issue of corruption. People want answers on the corruption charges levelled against his government,” he added.
Bindal said that the Chief Minister’s silence on corruption allegations clearly showed that the malice was rampant in his government.
