Shimla, August 18

Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today hit out at the Congress for making a rule wherein the councillors need to show their votes to an authorised party agent before casting it in the Solan MC mayoral poll.

The LoP said foreseeing its defeat, the Congress had resorted to dictatorship. Terming the move unconstitutional, he said the government wants to influence the voting by making a new rule during the poll process. “The voting process was already kept confidential. What is the justification for changing the rule? This is being done only to intimidate the councillors. It has become clear that the Congress is losing,” he said.

“The Congress leaders are roaming around with the pocket version of the Constitution. In reality, wherever the Congress is in power, it openly violates the Constitution,” he added. — TNS
