Congress govt spreading falsehood: Ex-CM Thakur
During his visit to Mandi today, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur asserted that the Central Government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is providing significant support to Himachal Pradesh. He expressed concern that despite the assistance, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other government leaders continue to criticise the Central government.
Thakur pointed out that the state government has failed to pay salaries and pensions on time on two occasions. He noted that the Central Government’s advance payment of Rs 1,479 crore from the state tax share enabled the Chief Minister to assure timely salary payments ahead of Diwali. He urged Sukhu to acknowledge this support and express gratitude towards key Central leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Thakur accused the Congress government of spreading falsehoods since taking office, stating it has consistently shifted blame on the Central Government for its failures. He highlighted that claims of the BJP withholding funds were untrue. Instead, BJP leaders actively seek more resources for Himachal. He praised the recent allocation of 92,000 Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana homes to the state, emphasising that this number is disproportionately higher as compared to other states.
