The BJP today alleged that the state government was anti-farmers and so was stopping schemes launched earlier for their benefit.

State BJP spokesperson Chetan Bragta, in a statement issued here, said that the farmers had been hit hard by the government decision to stop subsidy on anti-hail nets and solar fencing, which was a big protection against damage by wild animals.

Bragta said that the previous BJP government had started the Solar Fencing Scheme through the Agriculture Department to protect fruit and other crops of the farmers. According to the scheme, farmers and fruit growers were getting 70 per cent subsidy on the installation of solar fencing along their fields, which helped them save their crops from wild animals.

He said that the Agriculture Minister and the Horticulture Minister should intervene in the matter and stop injustice being done to the farmers.

Bragta warned that if their demands were not met, the farmers of the state would launch an aggressive protest against the Congress government.

The BJP spokesperson said that the Congress government had once again proved that it was anti-farmers. “Ever since the government has come to power, it has disappointed fruit growers and farmers with its anti-horticulture decisions,” he alleged.
