Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) at the Bachat Bhawan in Bilaspur today.

He said that officials must complete all development works in a time-bound manner and pay special attention to their quality. He instructed the officials to use new technologies to improve the progress of the works. He said that it should be ensured that the benefits of all government schemes reach every section of society.

Anurag said that it should be ensured that there was no hindrance in the development works and all schemes were implemented in a transparent manner. The Hamirpur MP told the officials to complete the set targets of the schemes before March 31 next year.

Anurag also reviewed the progress on the work of the Bhanupali to Bilaspur railway line and directed officials to ensure its timely completion.

He said that as this project would boost development in the area, it should be completed on priority.

To prevent road accidents, Anurag directed the police and transport departments to hold a joint meeting and look into the causes of mishaps. He suggested awareness programmes and the distribution of pamphlets and promotional material to reduce accidents.

Anurag also reviewed the progress in the construction work of the houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The MP addressed officials of Education, Health, Public Works, Electricity, Road Safety, Urban and Rural Development, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Food Supply, Industries, and Social Justice and Empowerment departments in the meeting.

Shri Naina Devi MLA Randhir Sharma, Jhanduta MLA Jeet Ram Katwal, Bilaspur Sadar MLA Trilok Jamwal, Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq, SP Sandeep Dhawal and other officials attended the meeting.
