Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu yesterday said that the state government was committed to eradicating drug menace and protecting the youth from its harmful effects.

Sukhu, while addressing the closing ceremony of the Nalagarh Red Cross Fair in Solan district, said that the government had adopted stringent measures to effectively tackle this social vice. “The government has also introduced legal provisions to seize the assets of those involved in drug trafficking,” he added while urging the youth to keep away from drugs.

He stressed the need for collective efforts by all sections of society to combat this serious social evil. He said that the Red Cross Fair was making impact through awareness initiatives against substance abuse. He praised the organisers for the successful organisation of the fair.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dhani Ram Shandil felicitated the Chief Minister during the event while Nalagarh MLA Hardeep Singh Bawa welcomed him. Punjabi singer Kulwinder Billa enthralled the gathering last evening.
