CM releases Rs 1,500 monthly grant to 509 women in Shimla’s Dodra-Kwar
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today launched the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi for Shimla district from Dodra-Kwar and released Rs 1,500 for 12 months to 509 eligible women from April 1, 2024. He released Rs 91.62 lakh to the beneficiary women and Rs 45.45 lakh as six month’s pension at the rate of Rs 1,500 per month to 505 other women of Dodra-Kwar. He said that under this scheme, the state government was providing Rs 18,000 annually to eligible women.
Sukhu also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated projects worth about Rs 12 crore in Dodra-Kwar. He inaugurated the Gosang-Jiskun road constructed at a cost of Rs 5.43 crore and laid the foundation stone of the Chamdhar road to be built at a cost of Rs 5.46 crore. He also inaugurated the first ATM of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank at Kwar.
Sukhu said that this was his third visit to Dodra-Kwar. “The government will introduce schemes to empower the five panchayats of Dodra-Kwar and the work is going on at war footing to build a road till Jakha which is expected to be completed by December this year,” he added.
He said that state government would create a separate zila parishad for Dodra-Kwar so that the public representatives could convey the problems of the region to the government in a better manner.
The Chief Minister announced Rs 1 crore each for the development of the five panchayats of Dodra-Kwar. He announced Rs 4.5 crore for the construction of a bailey bridge to connect to Uttarakhand, which would provide round-the-year connectivity to Dodra-Kwar.
He took a jibe at the BJP and said that the opposition leaders were repeatedly spreading lies on the guarantees given by the Congress. “Ever since the Operation Lotus failed and the Congress’ strength increased from 34 to 40 in the Vidhan Sabha, the BJP has been misleading people by way of false propaganda,” he added.
