Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Sanjay Awasthy today said, “Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has nothing to do with the ‘samosa’ controversy, yet the BJP has gone all out to link him with it.”

Awasthy, while addressing mediapersons here, accused the previous BJP government of making wasteful expenditure to the tune of crore of rupees to organise events like Jan Manch and Foundation Day. “An amount of Rs 19 crore was spent on the Investors’ meet in Dharamsala, including Rs 6 crore on chapattis alone, and even the basic commitments like the fares of HRTC buses were not paid,” he alleged.

Awasthy said that the BJP’s negligence had burdened the state with financial challenges. “The Congress has taken the reins with responsibility and purpose. Despite financial constraints and challenges posed by the rain disaster, the Congress government is taking the state ahead on the path of development. From restoring the old pension scheme to fulfilling some other promises, the Congress government has prioritised people over politics,” he claimed.
