Chopal youth held with 16 gm heroin
The Dharampur police arrested Kshitij (23), a resident of Pujarli village from Chopal Shimla, on Friday for alleged drug peddling.
SP Solan Gaurav Singh said on Nov 3, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Solan police, received information that a vehicle coming from Chandigarh and going towards Sanwara, was carrying a large quantity of heroin. Based on the tip-off, the team laid a naka near Sanwara toll and stopped the suspected vehicle.
Two youths sitting in the vehicle, who were identified as Vartik Chauhan (23) and Rahul Diwan (28), both residents of Shimla district, were arrested with 16 gram of heroin. While probing further linkages of the case, the police arrested the third accused Kshitij, a resident of village Pujarli from Chopal. The previous criminal record of the accused is being probed. He was produced before a court today for securing a police remand.
A case was registered at the Dharampur police station under Sections 21, 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrpic Substances Act. The criminal history of both the accused, including their involvement in any other case of drug peddling, is being investigated.
