Children from orphanages informed about Agnipath scheme
In a joint initiative by the district administration and the Red Cross Society, children from local orphanages were recently given valuable insights into the Army recruitment process. A special guidance session was organised at Mandi’s Paddal Ground, where Army officials provided crucial information to the children regarding the recruitment process as part of the ongoing Agniveer recruitment drive.
The session was organised following efforts by Mandi Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, who had previously visited various orphanages and old age homes in the district during Diwali. During his visit, children from Divya Human Jyoti Seva Trust in Dehar and Bal Vriddh Anath Ashram in Talyahar had expressed their aspirations to join the Army.
In response, the administration coordinated with the Army recruitment office to arrange this special session at the Paddal.
Led by District Red Cross Society secretary OP Bhatia, the session witnessed the participation of Sashant, Aryan, Vipin, Bobby and Yuvraj (Class XII students) from Divya Human Jyoti Seva Trust, and Ritik (Class XII), Sudhanshu, Kulvinder (Class X) and Eklavya (Class XI) from Bal Vriddh Anath Ashram.
The students were introduced to various aspects of the recruitment process, and received practical knowledge about the physical fitness tests, including a 1.6-km run and other exercises.
The guidance and inspiration from the Army officials motivated the students to aim to serve the nation through the Army.
The children expressed their gratitude to the DC and the Red Cross Society for organising the session. Some of the students said the guidance they received had strengthened their resolve to join the Army, and had encouraged them to work harder for future recruitment opportunities.
