Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said to provide housing facility to the homeless, the state government had set a target of constructing 10,000 houses under various housing schemes in the current financial year.

He said over 1,000 people had benefited under housing schemes in the district as an assistance of Rs14 crore was provided to them during the past about two-and-a-half years.

‘Rs 12,000 cr unspent’

Rs 12,000 crore is lying unspent with various departments, which need to be utilised for development works. Officers must ensure effective utilisation of this amount to make sure that the pace of development does not suffer. 

He said as many as 1,04,869 people were being provided social security pension in the district. As many as 31,530 new pension cases have been sanctioned during the last about three years in the district.

The Chief Minister was here to preside over a review meeting of development projects in Mandi district at Vipasha Sadan today. He directed the officers to ensure time-bound completion of various development projects so as to avoid price escalation.

He said that since the Medical College, Ner Chowk, had been designated as a dedicated Covid-19 hospital, workload had shifted to the zonal hospital, Mandi. Thus, special emphasis needed to be laid on ensuring better facilities in the zonal hospital. He directed the authorities of the Medical College to take emergency medical cases.

He said a sum of about Rs12,000 crore was lying unspent with various departments, which needed to be utilised for development works. He said that officers must ensure effective utilisation of this money to ensure that pace of development does not suffer.

He directed the PWD officers to ensure proper maintenance of roads in the state. He said that priority must be given on completion of those projects which were nearing completion.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected the under construction ‘Sanskriti Sadan’ at Kangnidhar Mandi and directed the officers for time bound completion of this Sadan.

He was accompanied by MLAs Rakesh Jamwal, Inder Singh Gandhi, Vinod Kumar, Jawahar Thakur, Hira Lal, Prakash Rana and Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur at the venue.
