Chamba, July 22

Chamba Welfare Association has urged the state government to introduce a direct helitaxi service from the town to the Manimahesh shrine. Earlier helicopter service to the Manimahesh shrine was available from Bharmour. The famous shrine falls in Bharmour tribal subdivision of the district.

In its meeting held here, association officiating president Om Prakash and general secretary SK Kashmiri said that after two years of break due to Covid lockdown a large number of devotees and visitors were expected to visit the shrine this year.

“Landslides occur on the Chamba-Bharmour road during the rainy season, blocking the road and disrupt traffic,” they said.

So, keeping in view the rainy season, the state government should introduce a direct helitaxi service from Chamba to Manimahesh, they said.

They appealed to the government that the Manimahesh pilgrimage should officially be declared open for at least four months from June to Radhashtami in September. The initiative would not only facilitate the pilgrimage, but would also prove advantageous to local people from tourism point of view.
