Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Friday stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had approved a budget of Rs 21.05 crore for the strengthening and maintenance of the Chail Chowk-Gohar-Pandoh and Mandi-Kamand-Katoala-Bajaura roads.

In a statement, Vikramaditya Singh said Rs 9.16 crore had been allocated for the Chail Chowk-Gohar-Pandoh road stretch by the National Highways Authority of India, while Rs 11.89 crore had been earmarked for the Mandi-Kamand-Katoala-Bajaura stretch.

He said that during his recent visit to Delhi, he met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to discuss the urgent need for road improvement and to request adequate funding.

He thanked Gadkari for promptly securing the funds for these roadways, which were vital for local residents and tourists travelling to Kullu, given the frequent blockades during the monsoon.
