Camps for kids with special needs being held across Himachal

Samagra Shiksha is organising medical assessment camps for children with special needs in each district of the state till November 22.

The initiative is being undertaken in a bid to provide children with assistive devices free of cost.

According to a Samagra Shiksha spokesperson, these camps are being organised in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO).

According to the schedule, camps are being organised in Chamba district on November 6-12. in Sirmaur district on November 6-13, in Una district on November 6-13, in Lahaul & Spiti on November 6-7, and in Mandi on November 6-18. Camps will be organised in Kangra district on November 14-22, in Solan on November 16-21, in Bilaspur on November 16-22, in Hamirpur on November 20-22, in Kullu district on November 9-19, in Kinnaur district on November 8-11, and in Shimla district on November 13-22.

“The main objective of this initiative is to make the lives of these children comfortable, and to implement inclusive education effectively,” said the spokesperson.

The screening of children with special needs is done by teachers in schools, following which certificates are provided to these children with the help of the Health Department, the spokesperson added.

“This initiative will ensure that children in all districts get assistive devices according to their needs, making their educational journey more comfortable,” the spokesperson said.
