A total of 2.59 lakh voters will cast their votes for the three Assembly byelections in the Dehra (Kangra), Nalagarh (Solan) and Hamirpur constituencies at 315 polling stations on July 10.

A spokesperson for the Election Department today said that according to the electoral rolls updated till the last date of nominations, a total of 2,55,417 general voters and 3,923 service electors would exercise their right to franchise in the three byelections. He added that Nalagarh had the highest number of 94,955 voters, followed by Dehra 86,520 voters and Hamirpur 78,065 voters.

1,999 voted at home

  • All three segments have 6,523 voters in the 18 to 19 years age group, 3,334 voters in the 85 plus category, 72 centenarians and 2,390 persons with disabilities (PwD) voters
  • 1,576 voters above 85 years of age and 423 PwD have opted for home voting

He said that Dehra had the highest number of 1,826 service electors, followed by Hamirpur 1,173 and Nalagarh 924. The spokesperson said that in all three segments, there were 6,523 voters in the 18 to 19 years age group, 3,334 voters in the 85 plus category, 72 centenarians and 2,390 persons with disabilities (PwD) voters. He added that for the three byelections, 1,576 voters above 85 years of age and 423 PwD had opted for home voting.

A total of 315 polling stations (21 in Nalagarh, 100 in Dehra and 94 in Hamirpur) were being set up for the byelections. The Election Department said that 217 polling parties had been sent to polling stations.

The spokesperson said that 98 polling parties were sent to 100 polling stations set up in Dehra while 119 polling parties out of the total 121 were sent to the Nalagarh segment. Two women polling parties each from Dehra and Nalagarh and all 94 polling parties for the Hamirpur segment would be sent tomorrow.
