BSNL installing 23 4G towers in Lahaul-Spiti to boost connectivity
The BSNL is installing 23 new 4G network towers to enhance communication facilities in Lahaul and Spiti.
The move is meant to address the longstanding communication challenges faced by area residents, especially students who struggle with online studies due to inadequate broadband services.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the communication infrastructure in Lahaul and Spiti, which is known for its challenging terrain and limited connectivity.
Gaurav Sharma, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the BSNL in Lahaul, said that the new 4G network towers were being installed in key locations such as Shakoli, Karapat, Tingrat, Khanjar, Yangthang, Lingcha, Kothi, Quaring, Tilla, and Fategar. The installation work was being done rapidly to make these towers fully operational in the near future, he added.
Besides the 4G network, the BSNL was also enhancing connectivity in more remote areas through the installation of satellite towers. These were being set up in isolated locations like Rarik, Chhatu, and Nenghar. These efforts were expected to facilitate better communication for residents and support the academic needs of students.
In Lahaul and Spiti, these services are at present operational in Sissu, Khoksar, Teling, Goshal, Gondhla, Kelang, Shansha, Waring, Udaipur, and Chokhang.
According to Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana, the BSNL’s initiative represents a significant investment in the region’s infrastructure, aiming to provide more reliable and efficient communication services. “This development is expected to have a positive impact on the daily lives of the local residents and the students, fostering better educational opportunities and improved connectivity for all,” she added.
