The Shimla Municipal Corporation (MC) removed three unauthorised street vendors from Lower Bazaar for selling goods without valid permission. During a market inspection, MC officials asked vendors to produce identity cards or proof of authorisation. Upon failing to provide the required documents, the officials removed them and confiscated their goods. In addition to tackling unauthorised vending, the MC conducted a 10-minute fire safety mock drill in Lower Bazaar. A fire tender was deployed to ensure timely response in case of emergencies, testing accessibility in the market. Tehbazaari Inspector Jyoti Prakash leads weekly inspections of Shimla’s main markets every Sunday. The team targets unauthorised vendors and hawkers while also taking action against shopkeepers encroaching on public spaces.
