Briefly: Two held with 104 gm heroin
In a major drug bust, the Special Cell of Baddi police arrested Satnam Singh, a resident of Amritsar, and seized 104.57 gm of heroin. The arrest took place on December 9 when Singh, traveling by bus, was searched at the Baddi bus stand after a tip-off. Authorities found 44.15 gm of heroin in his possession. Following the arrest, a raid on his residence in Amritsar led to the recovery of an additional 60.42 gm of heroin, making this the largest seizure in the district since its formation in 2009. Baddi SP Vinod Kumar stated that the police were now focusing on tracing the network behind this large-scale operation. He noted that the substantial quantity of heroin seized suggested that Singh was part of a larger, organised drug trafficking operation targeting the industrial belt. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest other individuals involved in the network. This seizure marks a shift in the approach to combating drug trafficking in Baddi, as previous confiscations had involved smaller quantities.
