BJP to organise ‘Run for Unity’ in state today

The Himachal BJP said today that it would organise a ‘Run for Unity’ in the state tomorrow to mark the 150th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

“Patel, also known as the ‘Iron Man’ of India, had integrated the erstwhile princely states and sacrificed his life for the unity and integrity of the country. The Congress pushed him to the background to ensure the perpetuation of the Nehru-Gandhi rule,” said state BJP president Rajeev Bindal in a statement issued here.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had paid true tribute to Patel by installing the “Statue of Unity”. He added that the BJP would organise a ‘Run for Unity’ to mark his 150th birth anniversary.

He alleged that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was “responsible for the Kashmir problem”.
