BJP submits memorandum to governor, Slams Congress for two years of ‘misrule’ in Himachal
The BJP today submitted a memorandum to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, highlighting the acts of omission and commission during the two years of Congress rule in Himachal Pradesh.
A delegation led by BJP Himachal incharge Shrikant Sharma, co-incharge Sanjay Tandon, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, state BJP president Rajiv Bindal, along with MPs, MLAs and senior party office bearers visited the Raj Bhawan to submit the memorandum to the governor. The document detailed various alleged scams during the Congress regime tenure and the state government's attempts to obstruct the implementation of Central schemes and projects. This occurred while the state government was hosting a rally in Bilaspur to showcase its achievements over the past two years.
The BJP's memorandum outlined serious allegations, including corruption in the Chief Minister's office, claims Himachal is "for sale" and the appointment of tainted officers to prominent positions. It also highlighted alleged corruption related to disasters, as well as mining, liquor, land, outsourcing, scrap and forest scams. A significant focus was on the alleged irregularities in the ADB-funded five-star hotel project proposed for Nadaun, the CM's assembly constituency.
The BJP also criticised the Congress for failing to fulfil its key promises made during the 2022 assembly elections, such as providing one lakh jobs to educated youth, offering Rs 1,500 monthly assistance to women aged 18 to 60, purchasing cow dung and supplying 300 units of free power.
The document also detailed several decisions the BJP deemed harmful to the people, including the imposition of a Rs 7 VAT on diesel, the withdrawal of the power subsidy, a Rs 150 increase in cement prices, hikes in bus fares, and increased power tariffs for both domestic and industrial users. Additionally, the memorandum pointed out the ‘embarrassment’ caused by adverse court rulings the Himachal Government has faced.
Jai Ram Thakur criticised the government's spending, stating, “The government has no money to pay salaries and pensions, so why spend crores on celebrations? This is why the BJP is holding protest rallies across the state to mark the completion of two years of Congress rule.”
