Shimla, July 13

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that the Congress’ victory in the byelections was the victory of people and the defeat of the politics of defection, horse-trading and conspiracy. “The BJP should introspect and learn a lesson from this defeat. It should play the role of the Opposition seriously in the interest of the state and stop trying to topple the government through conspiracy. It should refrain from spending money on the Operation Lotus,” he added.

Agnihotri said that the public had given the Congress 40 seats in the 2022 Assembly elections, and the party’s strength in the Hose was again the same. He added that in its quest to topple the government, the BJP managed to win the Rajya Sabha seat but ended the political careers of six Congress MLAs. “In these byelections, the BJP made its cadre upset. In the coming days, this anger will erupt as a volcano,” he calimed.

He said that no BJP leader had taken the moral responsibility of the electoral debacle. “Three senior BJP leaders were given the responsibility of the three byelections. The BJP lost two and won one. The BJP leaders should come forward and take the responsibility of the defeat,” he added.
