Shimla, July 7

Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president and former MP Pratibha Singh here today hit out at the BJP saying the saffron party was making efforts to mislead people by making false statements. In a statement issued here today, she said that people were well aware of BJP’s policies and intentions and no political ploy of the BJP would work in the state.

“The way in which an attempt was made to destabilise the Congress government to usurp power was an insult to the democracy and public opinion of the state which can never be tolerated,” she said.

She said that Congress was winning all the three Assembly byelections in the state with a huge majority. “The voters of Hamirpur, Dehra and Nalagarh are in favour of Congress and people are united to strengthen the Congress government in the state,” she said.

“After the three by-elections, the number of Congress MLAs in the state is going to be 41,” she added.

She said that the BJP was solely responsible for the byelections in the state. Demanding the BJP candidates to apologise to the voters, she said that the three former independent MLAs have betrayed those voters who had elected them. She also appealed to the party office-bearers and workers to fulfil their responsibility towards the party with loyalty and honesty by alerting the voters against any false propaganda of the BJP against the Congress as only three days are left for the elections.
