At a meeting held at the BJP office in Mandi district today, state leaders voiced strong criticism of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu for allegedly failing to deliver on key promises made to the public. BJP state president Rajiv Bindal accused the Chief Minister of neglecting 10 guarantees promised to the public.

During the meeting, which included prominent party figures like BJP national vice president Rekha Verma and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Bindal dwelt at length on a range of issues. He claimed that the Sukhu Singh govt has closed approximately 1,500 public institutions, including health and educational, and failed to create promised jobs, reportedly reducing job opportunities by 1.5 lakh instead of providing 2 lakh positions.

Bindal further criticised the state government for imposing increased taxes, including a Rs 7 levy on diesel and a 500 per cent hike in stamp duty, which, he said, had burdened the public. He also alleged that the Chief Minister has favoured friends and allies with high-ranking positions and contracts while halting essential development projects amid rising state debt.

He underscored that ongoing development initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and the Jal Jeevan Mission are primarily Central government-funded programmes, asserting that the state government has made little progress on its own.

“The BJP is currently in the midst of an organisational festival aimed at boosting party membership and strengthening local committees. The party achieved over 14 lakh online members statewide. The next phases of this initiative include finalising active memberships by November 5 and establishing new booth committees from November 11 to 30,” said Bindal. The meeting concluded with calls for greater accountability from the state government.
