BJP workers celebrated the party’s victory in Haryana by distributing sweets in Dharamsala. BJP state spokesperson Sanjay Sharma attributed the success to the public’s rejection of Congress’ failed governance model in Himachal Pradesh, alongside the influence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He argued that Haryana voters recognised the inefficiencies of the Congress government in Himachal, where rising taxes and delayed salaries and pensions for state employees have created widespread dissatisfaction.

Sharma criticised Himachal’s Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and his ministers, claiming they are fixated on BJP national president JP Nadda. He suggested that the Himachal ministers, while seeking assistance from BJP leaders in Delhi, return to Shimla to criticise both the BJP and PM Modi to divert attention from their failures.

Sharma endorsed Nadda’s recent statement, asserting that Himachal Pradesh cannot function without Central assistance. He highlighted that the state government depends on monthly revenue deficit funds and tax allocations from the Centre to pay its employees and pensioners. According to him, any development currently underway in the state is funded by centrally-sponsored schemes. The state government, he added, struggles with even basic tasks like road maintenance due to financial constraints.

He further alleged internal contradictions within the Himachal government. Sharma pointed to conflicting statements by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister on key projects such as the bulk drug park. While the Chief Minister has made accusations against the Centre for delays, the Deputy Chief Minister has sought BJP’s help to expedite the project. Sharma claimed that the Chief Minister deliberately obstructs the project, as it would benefit the Deputy Chief Minister’s constituency.

Sharma concluded that the Congress-led Himachal government’s failures have been exposed at the national level, further solidifying BJP’s appeal in Haryana.
