A Belgian tourist was injured when his motorcycle fell into the Ravi near Jiyura Bridge on Khadamukh-Holi Road in Chamba district on Saturday. The injured tourist was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Bharmour, where doctors reported his condition to be stable.

The police said a group of tourists from Belgium had arrived in Bharmour on rented motorcycles. After spending night in Bharmour, the group set off towards Holi the following morning. They parked their bikes near Jiyura Bridge when a two-wheeler of one of the group members tipped over. In an attempt to save the vehicle, the tourist lost his balance and fell approximately 70 metre down into the Ravi river. Fortunately, he managed to swim to the shore despite the impact of his fall into the river.

Acting quickly, his friends initiated a rescue mission without any delay. The group members managed to pull him back to the main road with the help of a rescue team comprising the police and firefighters.
