The state government is actively working to expand small savings’ initiatives and connect rural communities in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti. This was stated by Prakash Chand Karad, Vice Chairman of the National Savings State Advisory Board of Himachal Pradesh, during a one-day awareness camp held at Udaipur in Lahaul-Spiti yesterday.

Karad highlighted the importance of spreading the national savings movement across the state and encouraging the general public to adopt the habit of saving. He stated that generating a savings mentality among people is crucial for contributing to the development of the state and the nation.

To effectively implement these initiatives, the government aims to raise awareness at the grassroots level and connect more individuals to small savings schemes. Under the leadership of the CM, several robust measures are being taken in this direction.

He also mentioned that female agents receive a commission of 4 per cent while male agents receive 1 per cent. To further enhance women’s participation, he plans to propose an increase in the commission to the state government.

Karad emphasised that to strengthen women’s economic status in Lahaul-Spiti, small savings shops will be established at both the sub-divisional and district levels for selling women-made products. Additionally, efforts will be made to identify land for constructing a savings building and guest house in the district.
