Attempts to disrupt health schemes in Himachal unfortunate: Tandon
BJP state co-incharge Sanjay Tandon today said that it was unfortunate that attempts were being made to disrupt significant health schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Himcare in Himachal Pradesh which have benefited a large segment of society.
“The Chief Minister and his team should take lessons from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and move forward to serve people,” he said while chairing the BJP’s Solan Mandal membership campaign workshop. He addressed the party workers, municipal corporation councillors and the members of the Mandal Membership Campaign Committee.
To enrol new members, Tandon urged the party functionaries to reach every house, market, etc and enroll 100 new members to strengthen the organisation from every booth.
Tandon, while elaborating upon the central initiatives, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi practises what he professes. “In India, now the elderly above 70 years of age will get the benefit of Ayushman Yojana. The Modi Cabinet has approved this important decision providing free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. It is a gift to six crore senior citizens and will benefit 4.5 crore families.”
This decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. Now, after this approval, all the elderly above 70 years of age will be able to get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh every year under this scheme.
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved health coverage to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above regardless of income under the flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), he said.
“Its target is to benefit about 4.5 crore families with six crore senior citizens with free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh on family basis. The Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is already providing free health services to about 55 crore people. This is the world’s largest government health insurance scheme, which aims to provide health cover of up to Rs 5 lakh to 12 crore families every year, so that they can get help in case of need for admission in secondary and tertiary hospitals,” added Tandon.
