The Ex-Servicemen Association of Himachal Pradesh condemned the attack on a 75-year-old retired army officer here today. Capt Jagdish Verma (Retd), chairman of the association, said that it was unfortunate that a person who had given his life and soul for the service of the nation was attacked and threatened. He said that Capt Kalidas (Retd),75, was attacked on November 6 and was injured seriously. He added that the victim had objected to construction work being carried out on disputed land between two families in his village Palbu in Sujanpur. He was allegedly attacked by the accused, Bhagwan Dass, of the same village. He said that the accused had attacked the victim with iron rods that left him bleeding heavily.

He said, “The Association has written letters to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police and appealed that action against the accused be taken expeditiously.”

Meanwhile, Bhagat Singh Thakur, SP, said that the police had registered a case at the Sujanpur police station against the accused. He said that investigation in the case was on.
