Arun, Suraj clinch victory at chartered accountant badminton championship
Charted accountants Arun Giri and Suraj have won the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – Himachal Pradesh Branch (ICAI-HP) State Badminton Championship in their respective categories. The championship concluded here today.
Arun Giri secured the top spot in the Above-50 category, while Rajiv Sharma was the runners up. Suraj was the winner in Under-50 category, while Yogesh was the runners up.
As many as 28 charted accountants from across the state participated in the event in three categories — Under 50, Above 50 and Open Doubles. In the double matches, Arun Giri and Rajesh Thakur defeated Suraj and Yogesh in the finals.
Rajiv Sharma, former president, HP chapter of ICAI, said the organisation conducted various championships around the year to provide a platform to interact with the CA fraternity.
Rohit Sharma, vice-president, HP Bar Council, as the chief guest at the closing function, awarded prizes to the winners. He said sports was best way to release the stress that professionals were facing these days.
He also announced that he would pay Rs 5,000 to the organising committee to encourage people to participate in sports.
