The Mandi Saksharta and Jan Vikas Samiti, in collaboration with the Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti, recently organised an awareness camp on drug de-addiction at Government Senior Secondary School, Kotli, in Mandi district, under the “Save Youth, Save Future” campaign.

Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti state joint secretary and district secretary Gajender Sharma addressed the students, highlighting the causes of addiction and urging them to stay away from drugs. He discussed various types of drugs, particularly the increasing prevalence of synthetic drugs, which he noted was severely impacting the lives of youth today.

Sharma emphasised the need for responsible citizenship, and warned against the predatory tactics of drug traffickers targeting educational institutions.

He urged students to resist the incentives, curiosity and temptations that lead to drug use, regardless of the type of substance involved.

Samiti district joint secretary Vinay Kumari spoke about the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, Swachh Bharat initiative, and the developmental programmes in Mandi.
