Another bear attack injures man
In yet another incident of human-animal conflict, a man was seriously injured after being attacked by a bear at Darbari Hill. The victim was identified as Noor Jamal, a resident of Playur village panchayat, falling in Chamba tehsil.
The bear inflicted deep wounds on Noor Jamal’s face and head. His screams drew the attention of other locals grazing their animals nearby, who rushed to the spot to save him. The bear fled as villagers approached. Noor Jamal was shifted to Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba.
Doctors at the college stated that Noor Jamal’s condition was stable. The rising human population and shrinking habitat of animals has led to a conflict between the two. In the last decade, wild animals have strayed into human habitation and killed many people in different parts of the hill state.
