A group of 15 art lovers from America tried their hands at the world-acclaimed Kangra miniature paintings. The group reached Shriram Art Gallery near Kangra to learn the intricacies of the art form. Dhani Ram, the celebrated Pahari Kalam master artist, gave them fine tips on the subject.

Kangra Miniatures which originated in Guler in the beginning of the eighteenth century has its unique place in the history of Indian painting. It is known the world over for its delicacy of lines and brilliance of colour. The expression of emotions created in divinity has immortalised this style.

The visitors said they had seen innumerable art forms across the world, but the beauty of the Kangra paintings was unparalleled. They compared the Kangra style with the ancient paintings at Ajanta and Ellora.
