Shimla, August 30

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Pathania today said that he always acted in an impartial manner in the House, as per the rules and powers vested in him.

Pathania, while talking to mediapersons later, said that what happened in the House was done strictly as per the rules. “I don’t need to be guided by the Leader of the Opposition. In fact, he must adhere to the rules, regulations, procedures and conventions of the House. Being the Leader of the Opposition, he is duty bound and much more responsible towards the state as he has remained Chief Minister for five years,” he added.

The Speaker said, “Jai Ram Thakur starts obstructing the Chief Minister and other ruling party members whenever they stand up to speak. It is within my powers and rules and I have acted accordingly,” he added.

He said, “I don’t have to learn from the LoP, I know what to do. He is much junior to me and does not understand rules. I have been a member of the House when there were legendary people from whom we learnt how to conduct ourselves in the House.” He added that his role in the House was neutral and would always remain so.
