In order to resolve revenue related cases like mutation, partition and land demarcation, the state government is trying to make revenue courts functional on fast-track lines, said Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi. He said the government would fill 800 vacant posts of patwaris in the revenue department across the state.

Addressing a press conference at Rehan in the neighboring Fatehpur Assembly constituency in Kangra district, the Revenue Minister said that the government had brought many changes in the state revenue rules in the revenue department keeping in view direct benefit to the people of the state.

Negi said the government had made changes in the Revenue Act to ensure that land division could be done within the stipulated six months’ period and department officials would be held accountable for exceeding this time limit. He said the land settlement work was under progress in some districts of the state which would be completed in near future.

Negi, who is also horticulture minister, said the government had planned to develop horticulture on 6,000 hectares of land in the sub-tropical region of the state under the Shiva Horticulture Project on which Rs 1,292 crore were being spent and around 15,000 fruit growers would benefit.

Local MLA and vice chairman of state planning board Bhiwani Singh Pathania, and MLA Shahpur Kewal Singh Pathania were also present.

Earlier, the minister conducted a surprise inspection of the Regional Water Sports Centre, Pong Reservoir at Khatiyad. He said the government had proposed to start adventure sports activities in the reservoir. “In this connection, permission has been granted to kickstart water sports activities at Matiyal area in Fatehpur Assembly constituency and Nangal Chowk area in Jaswan Pragpur Assembly constituency in Kangra district,” he said.
