80 structures constructed on govt land identified in Kullu
The Kullu administration, acting on the directions of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, has intensified efforts to remove encroachments on government land, particularly in Kullu town. Over the past two weeks, more than 80 structures, including jhuggis and dhabas, constructed on government land in Kullu town have been identified.
Kullu Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vikas Shukla confirmed that the administration has begun a comprehensive exercise to identify both commercial and residential structures constructed on government land. Notices have been issued to over 80 individuals who have constructed illegal structures, urging them to dismantle their buildings within the given time. The administration has warned that if the offenders fail to comply, legal action, including the demolition of the structures, will be taken.
According to SDM Shukla, while many of the offenders have partially encroached on government land, some have built entire structures on it. The administration is focusing on detecting all such encroachments across the Kullu subdivision.
According to official sources, within one year, over 250 illegal temporary structures were removed in Kullu town. The authorities have stated that the drive will continue in the coming days. While the administration is focusing on Kullu town, notices have also been served in Kasol, where similar encroachments were detected.
The ongoing drive is part of a larger initiative by the Kullu administration to safeguard government land and curb illegal constructions in the area. Local authorities have pledged to uphold the law and take strict action against all encroachers. The SDM reiterated that the administration is committed to addressing the issue in a timely and effective manner to ensure the proper use and maintenance of government land.
