76 hotels in Mandi awarded good ratings for cleanliness
A total of 76 hotels, homestays, and guest houses in Mandi district have been awarded the prestigious Green Leaf rating for cleanliness. Among these, three establishments received the highest rating of five leaves, 41 received three leaves, and 32 received one leaf. This information was shared by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Rathour during the monthly review meeting of the district-level monitoring committee for the implementation of the Cleanliness Green Leaf Rating system, held here on Wednesday.
Rathour explained that 151 establishments in the district had applied for the Green Leaf rating, of which 93 were evaluated, and 76 were deemed eligible after meeting the required standards. Evaluation for the remaining establishments is still going on.
“The Green Leaf rating is based on criteria such as solid waste management, grey water recycling (wastewater management), and proper management of human waste. These establishments are being awarded certificates that will be prominently displayed, aiming to boost tourism by signaling their commitment to cleanliness and sustainability” said Rathour.
Rathour emphasised that the Cleanliness Green Leaf rating will not only enhance environmental protection but also promote tourism activities in the region. The primary objectives of the rating system are to improve sanitation in the hospitality sector, promote world-class cleanliness standards, prevent pollution in water bodies, and enhance cleanliness in the tourism industry.
