A woman lost her life while her son was seriously injured in a road accident in the Nagrota Bagwan area of Kangra district on Thursday morning.

The accident happened in the Pathiar area of Nagrota Bagwan when a private bus going from Dharamsala to Manali collided with a car coming out from a roadside house. The collision was so terrible that the car was completely damaged in the accident. The car driver got stuck in the vehicle. Hearing impact of the collision, nearby people rushed to the spot and took out the driver trapped inside mangled remains of the car. He was immediately shifted to the Tanda Medical College.

Nagrota Bagwan police station in-charge Chaman said around 10 am, the police got information that a private bus had collided with a car near Pathiar village. He said the private bus was going from Dharamsala to Manali, when 29-year-old Chandan was taking out car from his house along road in reverse gear. His mother Binta Devi (62 years) was helping her son take out car from the house. Due to impact of the collision, Binta Devi, who was standing beside the car, was flung into the air. She hit the wall and fell into a drain while her son Chandan got stuck in the mangled remains of the vehicle.

Local residents took Chandan out of the vehicle and he was taken to a hospital in Nagrota Bagwan from where doctors referred him to the Tanda Medical College where he was undergoing treatment. Chandan’s mother Binta Devi was also rushed to the hospital in Nagrota Bagwan, but doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.

Shallini Agnihotri, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kangra, said the bus driver had absconded after the accident. The SP said a case had been registered against the bus driver. — TNS
