Rs 5.91 cr more released for left-out disaster-hit persons
The state government has released an additional grant of Rs 5.91 crore for disbursement to the disaster-hit persons of Shimla district who suffered huge damages in last year’s monsoons.
DC Anupam Kashyap said here today that the sum of Rs 5,91,73,991 had been released to sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) of Jubbal, Rohru, Rampur, Theog, Shimla Rural, Kumarsain and Kotkhai. “Under this package, financial assistance will be provided to 1,015 left-out affected people. This includes damages for 28 completely damaged houses, 427 partially damaged houses, 240 damaged cowsheds, 320 persons for total crop loss, land and shops.
During the disaster last year, a special relief package was issued by the state government to the affected people. Under this, some affected people were left out in the district and now additional grants have been issued to them. The affected people can get information from their respective sub-divisional magistrate or tehsil office and grants will be released for the affected people after completing all formalities.
Under the special relief package issued by the state government, assistance has been provided to 2,235 affected people in Shimla district. Last year, assistance was provided to 389 houses which were completely damaged, 1,551 houses were partially damaged and 289 people were provided assistance for damage to agriculture, livestock and land. An amount of Rs 22 crore has been allocated under the relief package in the district.
The state government had announced a special relief package of Rs 4,500 crore for the victims of the natural disaster caused by heavy rains in the year 2023. Under this, the compensation amount received under the Disaster Relief Manual was increased by up to 25 times. To deal with the disaster, the state government had released a package of Rs 4,500 crore in total.
Under this package, the 3,500 persons whose houses had been completely damaged in the disaster were being provided compensation of Rs 7 lakh instead of the earlier relief of Rs 1.30 lakh. Apart from this, a provision of 25 times more, ie Rs 1 lakh instead of Rs 4,000, had been made for partial damage to a kutcha house and 15 and a half times more, ie Rs 1 lakh instead of Rs 6,500, for partial damage to a pucca house.
